Unique Design

While we love the New England vernacular style, we are influenced by our travels around the country and the world: a garden gate and hedge in the Hamptons; an ancient stone wall and rolling pasture in the Cotswolds; a black painted church and stone terrace in Iceland; a poured concrete fire pit and seating area in Puerto Rico; a meadow of native grasses in Eastern Montana. These are some of the things that inspire us.

We enjoy the search for out of the ordinary materials and solutions whenever appropriate to help make sure that your project will most faithfully represent you and your idea of home.

Sustainability

The most commonly used definition of the word comes from the UN World Commission on Environment and Development: Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We plant and build with this in mind, utilizing materials and methods that will last. A thoughtfully planted perennial bed, created as a community of similarly performing plants, doesn’t need to be re-planted year after year. The stone walk leading from your back porch to the pond can and should direct you for generations to come.

Improved Ecosystem Health

We take every opportunity given us to improve carbon footprints around the Upper Valley. We enjoy working with clients and members of the community to find new exciting solutions to: capture more carbon; stabilize honey bee populations; prevent erosion into shared waterways.

Ongoing Relationships

We believe in small town ethics:

Treat each and every client as if they are the only one we’ve got. Listen more than talk. Know the specific detail, and dream about the bigger picture. Do our best everyday.
